Hailing from Christchurch New Zealand maitreya is an MC with a mood and a message to renew the faith of Hip Hop heads worldwide. His soulful melodies punctuated by tight, head nodding beats and rhymes made him the first ever hip hop artist to crowd-source US$50,000 to record his debut solo album Close To Home.

The album is a journey through sound into the tragedies and victories of an everyday hero who has taken his craft from Christchurch, New Zealand to stages in New York, Hong Kong, London and Amsterdam.

Friday night with KILOTONE at FU BAR in Auckland was wicked! We ripped it with some of NZ’s top Drum n Bass DJ’s for VOLATILE: A Darker Side of Drum n Bass. Great night, mean tunes and an awesome way to celebrate Waitangi Day and Bob’s Birthday!! Thanks to everyone who turned up and mashed it up to the little hours and thanks to FU BAR.

Just a quick heads up too, the Video for my first single WAITAHA is being produced now, i’ll let you know where you can check it out as soon as the final cut is available!!
