Hailing from Christchurch New Zealand maitreya is an MC with a mood and a message to renew the faith of Hip Hop heads worldwide. His soulful melodies punctuated by tight, head nodding beats and rhymes made him the first ever hip hop artist to crowd-source US$50,000 to record his debut solo album Close To Home.

The album is a journey through sound into the tragedies and victories of an everyday hero who has taken his craft from Christchurch, New Zealand to stages in New York, Hong Kong, London and Amsterdam.

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a great holiday and your ready for ‘09! 2009 looks like it’s gonna be busy, LOTALUV is starting to pick up speed at radio and TV and the video has been picked up by three of the four music TV channels in NZ!

I have also just hooked up with Page One Management (ex-Warner Music UK & NZ) who are gonna spearhead the album’s release, so I’m excited about that! For all you UK/Europe fans, a tour is in the works for ’09, to be financed by pre-sale tickets online and with the support of other SellaBand artists, watch this space for details.
